What is your favorite portrait painting (e.g., the Mona Lisa) and why?
The painting must have only one person (no group portraits).
I think the Mona Lisa. It has such interesting history. It took DiVinci so many years to paint it. It is painted on a 1 inch block of oak. The smile is what he remembers from his mother. The subject is said to be the wife of an Inn Keeper. It was stolen once in the museum where is it kept now. Lengend has it the he arranged for a group of musicians to play during the sitting to keep the expression on her face.
